Bridge Building & 2 quiet PR's

Yoga yesterday was great- a nice way to get active mobility work done in a quiet relaxing atmosphere. Even Eli was into just being quiet for most of the hour. Afterwards, the teacher(Ben Lillibridge) came over and asked me about the wall stretches I was doing prior to class. They were the modified wall walking from CC1. Twisting around the torso to put the upper body into a modified bridge standing up against a wall. instead of up and down the wall.  It seemed to work well to get the upper back loose and mobile since bridges on the floor were hurting my legs. He spent a few minutes working with me and pointed out my fault- I was leaning towards the legs and not pushing the torso and head back towards my arms. Finally the feedback I needed to hear. So in my practice I'm going to slowly press out from the feet planted flat to get the proper arch AND remove the pressure from my knees. In our discussion- we got onto the topic of  body-weight conditioning and I kind of went overboard with a quick 15 min discourse on CC and Paul Wade. I see we can definitely do some knowledge transfer here int he coming weeks.

It has become clear that endurance classes have cut into some of the more fun metric gathering classes. previously the only PR's for strict presses were 5x5 #105  today I pulled off 2 @125 and 1 @135 without a hiccup. The one big fault was arching the back as the arms fatigued-which Ben quickly pointed out -broke the structure- instant weakness and fail. Also- he said-bounce from the bottom on the second rep- never stop as you lose the power of the locked in core muscles when they relax. Noted -great advice. Definitely, I can go more- just need to build up to it-but not during the Open. This week I'm dialing it way back in expectation of a rather rough 14.2 on Friday.

7×2 Strict Press – Heaviest Possible

30-20-10 of:
Power Clean 135/95#
Box Jump 24/20″

The power cleans I thought were going to be too heavy, but in the end they actually felt like a good solid weight at RX. I strung a few together but was worried it was deforming my posture too much. Need to get shin guards- I ripped open a scab again and bled all over the damn bar.  Box jumps were rough-I started off w/ a jump down but decided to step down to pace myself a little slower and not risk twisting something. Only needed to stop to catch my breath once. Finish time was 10:15.
